Digging out more cannas on a beautiful fall day - low 60’s, sunny with winds 5 MPH. First butterfly of the day, Common Buckeye, but the second one was a Sleepy Orange. That was very unexpected. This is the first Sleepy Orange seen here since 11/2 but the 7th sighting this year. I am hoping to have the correct senna for them next year to mate and lay eggs here. Also male and female Cloudless Sulphurs here and the male kept trying to mate. Most of my nectar is either snapdragons or little tiny yellow flowers in the grass. The male Sachem was also in a mating mood. Total of 10 species flying. 5 Common Buckeye, 3 Black Swallowtail and 1 Monarch caterpillars continue along with overwintering 6 Spicebush Swallowtail chrysalis.

Mexican Clover was the nectar source for most species with occasional Bidens.
To say the White Peacocks were abundant is an under-statement as I would estimate there were around 1000. I figure about one every foot or so and I walked about 1000 ft along a path.
While in south Florida I saw an exceptional number of White Peacocks at most sites though not as many as here.

I just added Fogfruit, host for Phaon Crescent, to our garden. I wonder if it had a chrysalis on it? It’s been a long time since we’ve seen one. We had this happen with gomphrena purchased & planted next to Plumbago, the host plant for Cassius Blue as we’d never seen Cassius Blue in our yard until then.
