The sighting of Gold Hunter’s Hairstreak in Oregon is noteworthy. There have only been a few records of this butterfly in Oregon, and no record that I can find since 2003 by Erik Runquist and Andy Warren, who reported them east of Ashland, also in Jackson County. See “Butterflies of Oregon Their Taxonomy, Distribution, and Biology” by Dr. Andrew Warren.
The two Great Arctics are also unusual in that they fly every other year and that is usually on even numbered years. So to see two today was a surprise.
