Baltimore Checkerspots were both females. One freshly eclosed and drying her wings. Other watchers had 4 the day before. All (theirs and mine) in same spot where I saw the caterpillars. Eastern Comma also freshly emerged (dark hindwing summer form). Banded Hairstreaks were males chasing each other in a sunlit glade. None seen nectaring. All butterflies observed in passing except for the Baltimores which I went out of my way to see. Otherwise I was looking for moth caterpillars (Catocala badia) or beetles…
