Sighting for November 12, 2022

Last day of warm weather: 70 degrees, steady breeze, 1:00 - 2:15

Painted lady was a nice surprise, I haven’t seen one of these for at least the last two butterfly seasons if not longer. Perhaps pushed up this way from the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole the last two days? Sachem had not been noticed at this site for several visits over several weeks. Most of the buckeyes seen were puny, but fresh. The smallest was about the size of a snout butterfly, several others were not much bigger than that.

Totals include 1 cabbage and 1 sulphur seen on Bay Parkway before entrance to Field 4 parking.

Lights out for leps after today: Daytime temperatures are not forecast to exceed low 50s for the next 1-2 weeks at least.
