John and Nancy Crosby

Steelbridge Road and Townsend WMA
McIntosh County, GA

Sunny and warm with drought conditions. Everywhere we found wildflowers we found butterflies. In the closeup photo of a Coudless Sulphur it appears to have two probiscus. When we reached the small planted pines in the sandhills near the Altamaha River we only covered about 1 acre of approximately 75 acres and found Southern Dogface in good numbers but only a fraction of what we saw last year in October. The wildflowers were all yellow composites.
