Sighting for June 29, 2022

Tom Fiore, Kristine Wallstrom

several preserves and protected natural areas, western portions of the county.
Litchfield County, CT

N. Metalmarks very freshly-out in several small sites, all highly-protected. A White-M Hairstreak appeared at one of these sites, but was not cooperative for photos. One Hoary Edge was the 1st butterfly sighting of the day, with host-plants for that species nearly abundant in the same site. [Note: the same metalmark species was seen a day or more previous, in northwest New Jersey, also in limited protected areas.
This species had a period of intensive focus in the state of Connecticut over a period of recent years.]
