Sighting for May 31, 2022

David H. Bartholomew

Long Ridge Open Space Preserve
San Mateo County, CA

A small isolated patch of flowering Oneleaf Onion was a major attractant for many butterflies, 10 species during the hour I was standing there watching.

Cyn Dusel-Bacon and friends joined me for awhile, finding the Two-Banded Checkered Skipper and confirming the presence of a Pacific Meadow Fritillary.
