Roy Cohutta

Chickasawhatchee WMA
Dougherty County, GA

Slowly went straight down the gravel road for 6.6 miles. In 2 hours, 15 minutes I cleanly counted at least 24 Monarchs. I was happily surprised by this. They looked fresh. I can only imagine how many Monarchs are really in this large WMA.

Photographed both Asclepias perennis and A. tuberosa in bloom. I included a photo of a Monarch on A. perennis in the swamp.

2 extremely aerobatic Duskywings not identified to species.
