75 degrees, cloudy and extreme drought per weather man. Beetle infestion in the Longleaf Pines caused this tract of timber to be cut. Now management has removed some of the small oaks creating a large meadow. Besides 3 or four tiny plants of Helitrope the only nectar source at present is limited milkweed and a few nettles. This area has great potential. One of the challenges is the presence of wild hogs which have practically destroyed several acres. Mgt has installed a corn feeder with trap which hopefully will help. I was uneasy as a sow with pigs can be quite dangerous! This area was dangerous to walk in as well with all the holes. But for some reason they have stayed in the area which still has tiny oaks and not destroyed the meadow as yet.
