Sighting for May 8, 2022

John and Nancy Crosby

Harris Neck NWR
McIntosh County, GA

We checked Ox-eye Daisy along the marsh at the entrance & found Salt Marsh, Swarthy & Dun Skippers. We saw 1 Monarch, 1 Whirlabout and 1 Oak Hairstreak on Milkweed along Wildlife Drive. Usually on this date in May every species flying can be found on the milkweed we checked today. Hardly any pollinators on fresh Pinewoods Milkweed, fresh Helitrope nor on Fogfruit. After appearing OK we discovered the reason the Oak Hairstreak was buried deep in the Milkweed. A spider had him!
