Early spring butterflying from 1:54 to 4:40pm, with still and mostly cloudy skies at 49° at the start of the session and sunnier conditions at 53° as I finished. I stayed longer than planned as the conditions became brighter and warmer, and finally had some Milbert’s Tortoiseshell activity in the last forty-five minutes. The butterflies were skittish and didn’t allow for close approach. I plan to visit this bog near our house on a regular basis this season to see what butterflies I can find. Last summer I had Dorcas Coppers here plus a gazillion mosquitos.
