Warm and sunny, at about 70° and with a steady breeze. I spent a pleasant hour observing and photographing butterflies at a favorite spot with nice views of Cook Inlet and the surrounding Chugach Mountains. Resting snow-white Dall sheep kept a close eye on me from halfway up the bluffs. I found only a single species of butterfly, Mormon Fritillaries (Bischoff’s fritillary is the local subspecies), but they were abundant and very active.
