Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve Count Circle - Bull’s Island (40.409570, -75.036246) - this was my second visit to this location (on the first I was alone to check out the area and decided it was worth our while to go with all 4 butterfliers in the afternoon group. Paula Williams and Jim Springer covered the area south of the main drive, while Chris Williams and I covered the northern area along the towpath. There were a lot of fly-bys, and a good number of angle-wings (for this year). It was not the greatest diversity or number of individuals, but it did add some diversity to the overall count. My preliminary investigation (8:15-8:45 am) was folded into this count (two additional species sighted here on the earlier trip)

  • Eastern Tiger Swallowtail 17
  • Spicebush Swallowtail 8
  • Cabbage White 55
  • Eastern Tailed-Blue 1
  • 'Summer' Spring Azure 2

  • Eastern Comma 3
  • Red Admiral 5
  • Red-spotted Purple 1
  • Monarch 1
  • Silver-spotted Skipper 4
  • Sachem 1
