Hwy 89 at Pondosa (Shasta County), followed by Bear Creek and meadows (Siskiyou County. Siskiyou County, CA
Siskiyou County, CA

I drove back up to the lovely meadows south and east of Mt. Shasta to try and photograph a Tawny-edged Skipper. This small colony of Tawny-edged Skipper was refound by Dennis Holmes and described by MacNeill in the Lepidopterists’ Journal. It is apparently a disjunct population of Tawny-edged Skipper. Perhaps this is the only locale in California to photograph them. See the following document for details:
“The Journal Of the Lepidopterists’ Society”, Volume 47 Number 3, dated 1993 - “Comments on the Genus Polites…” for species and locale info.
